How to sign up

Like to join Yoda's Yarns? Confused by the rules so much that you don't know how to start? Well this is the place to be then!

Step 1: Decide on a name for the character which you will be playing as. Please don’t use an actual Star Wars character as we avoid that here.

If you’re having a little bit of trouble making a name then perhaps this site could help: The Star Wars Random Name Generator

Step 2: You may want to do this first but next you should choose a species. There are many different sentient species in the Star Wars universe. Descriptions of many can be found here: The Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia

Step 3: Next you should decide on which profession your character will be. Insight into each of the classes and their advantages can be found here. As they stand now; the professions include:

Jedi
Shadow
Dark Jedi/Sith
Pirate
Gangster
Imperial Officer
New Republic Officer
Mercenary
Bounty Hunter
Rogue
Mechanic

Step 4: Your character starts with 600 experience points which are to be distributed amongst either 6 or 7 skills depending on their chosen profession. Initially you may only place a maximum of 200XP in any skill, though you can raise that limit through battle, racing and sabacc. These skills include:

Melee Combat – This skill is used for hand to hand battles and strength weapons (i.e. staffs, daggers, ect.) in battles. This skill may also be used for tests of strength outside of battles.
Ranged Combat – This skill is used when a character is firing a ranged weapon in personnel combat such as blasters, blaster rifles, and throwing knifes. It may also be used for accuracy tests.
Ground Vehicle – This skill is for utilizing ground vehicles such as speeders, AT-ATs, and Sandcrawlers. It also plays an important role in ground vehicle races.
Pilot Capital – This skill determines how well you can command a capital vessel such as Correllian Corvettes or Star Destroyers.
Pilot Light – Any starship that isn't a capital is considered a light starship and uses this skill for piloting. Light starships include starfighters like the X-wing and Tie fighter and small freighters such as the YT-1300.
Perception – This skill is used primarily when playing sabaac. In addition it is possible to haggle lower prices for purchases from the store and pass perception checks on rare items.
Force – This skill determines how well you can use abilities that can be used in the battle generator as well as in role-playing situations. As your character's strength in the force increases your character will gain access to greater abilities in the force.

Note: Only Jedi/Dark Jedi/ Shadows/Sith can be force sensitive; so if playing as one of those classes then include the skill Force Strength into your distribution of experience points. If not, then leave out that skill entirely and distribute your experience points amongst the other 6 skills.
Note
: A minimum of 50 experience points must be placed in each skill (if your character is not force sensitive then do not count the Force Strength skill) initially. However beyond that you may place them as you please.
Note: No character may begin with a Lightsaber.

Step 5: You should now write a biography of your character – giving him or her a bit of a personality and history. Including an image as well as describing what they look like is a good addition.

Step 6: Once you are satisfied with the information regarding your character you should make a new post introducing yourself and your character in the Administration forum. Once a staff member has checked over it they will add your character to the roster where you will now be able to roleplay, buy items, compete in races and battle it out against others.

A Note for those unsure of how or when to post:

Yoda's Yarns is an open galaxy. You can post where or when you like and do what you like so long as its realistic. Open a thread in General Role-playing about exploring a new planet and even have the planet added to the galaxy map or open a thread in cantina about kicking back and having a meal. Feel free to join anyone else's thread as well so long as you're not harassing them. We're easy here at YY and moderators will let you know if you can't do something and they'll do it politely so please feel comfortable.
