ECLIPSING TOTALITY
Spectaculars happen every
now and then, but nothing can compare
To the brilliance of pure pleasure witnessed every fifty years
or more.
Daylight rises from behind the rugged mountain ranges of the
morning sky
As the spectacle of spectaculars readies for its momentous entrance.
"Tension fills the air abound
as it has for many months before
Excitement grows with each passing second that leads to totality
As four corners of the globe prepare, only two corners will ever
be so blessed
With this spectacular that surely will be remembered in the new
century.
Hearts pounding like drums
of war, as the pulse races like flooding rains
Aromas smelt as the wind blows an essence all of its own
People start acting out wild fantasies as the hours pass so closely
Animals become mute as they run to see the security of safety.
Venues start to slowly fill
with crowds of anxious participants of history
Advantage points are gained knowing this will be infamous history
Tents pitched. Film loaded as camp fires blaze into the evening
shade
With late arrivals crawling in at all hours, for the last rush
of the taste.
First light is the dawning
of the everlasting historical moment
Movement is fast and noise loud, with camera crews moving in
for the kill
Unpleasant yet soothing feelings lurk in the bloody veins
As the clouds begin to lift as the moon starts its path across
the sun.
Cameras of all sorts look
on to capture the moving line of the moon
Slowly the moon crosses slightly more, creating a black corner
on redness
The light of the day fades more by each slight crossing
As the allocated glasses to the crowds are wrapped on.
The noise from the crowd
becomes deafening, like feedback.
The land at midday now appearing to be the middle of the darkest
night
As the moon covers the entire view of the burning sun.
Totality now achieved! This, the final eclipse of the twentieth
century."
Totality accomplished for
the last time for some and the first for others
No event over recent standing's could match the show of Mother
Nature
The earth moving into complete darkness from the light of day
Then moving into the light of day from this spectacular solar
eclipse.
